District Essay Contest Winner

Devon Kelly-Saiz

Devon Kelly-Saiz, a Belen High School graduating senior, recently won the Optimist Club District Level Essay contest with his essay, "The Internet: Today's Evolution or Tomorrow's Menace." Devon had earlier this year won the Belen Breakfast Club's yearly essay contents which entered him into the district level contents.

Devon was awarded a $2,500 scholarship to the college of his choice. His essay was judged the best among essays submitted by the winners of the essay contest from the other Optimist clubs in the New Mexico/West Texas District. Devon's essay will now be sent to the Optimist International competition.

The Belen Breakfast Optimist Club also serves Los Lunas and all of Valencia County, New Mexico.
