The Annual Respect for Law Banquet

2008 Officers of the Year

The 24th annual Respect for Law banquet sponsored by the Breakfast Optimist Club of Belen was held on Saturday, June 14th at the Valencia County Sheriff's Posse Cafe in Belen, New Mexico. Magistrate Danny Hawkes, himself a former longtime police officer, was the featured speaker. Officers of the Year for Valencia County law enforcement agencys were selected by those agencys and where honored at the the banquet.

The year's honorees are:

• Officer Tim Zuni of the Isleta Tribal Police Department
• Officer Jermaine Wilkins of the Bosque Farms Police Department
• Detective Denise Romero of the Los Lunas Police Department
• Officer Pat Gallegos of the Belen Police Department
• Deputy Ed Chavez of the Valencia County Sheriff's Department
• Office Paul Lopezs of the New Mexico State Police
• Senior Special Agent Keith Fleenor of the BNSF Railroad Police Department

With great pride, we of the Breakfast Optimist Club of Belen honor these officers who have shown outstanding ability in their service to the people of Valencia County and Isleta Pueblo.

The Belen Breakfast Optimist Club also serves Los Lunas and all of Valencia County, New Mexico.
